Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at James Monroe K-8 School. Monroe School provides a nurturing and challenging educational experience for all students in grades K-8. Monroe has a variety of programs that are geared towards promoting a well rounded educational experience for the students. The Long Beach Scholars and AVID Programs offer unique opportunities for students in grades 4-8 as they experience what it takes to prepare for higher education. The MACS program promotes a stimulating and challenging academic program for high achieving students. Technology classes are also available to students to enhance their academic experience. This year middle school students will be able to go online from home to access ST Math developed by the MIND Research Institute. Monroe has an outstanding instrumental music program that is one of the best in the Long Beach Unified School District. The elementary school students are able to participate in the Monroe School Gardens. Monroe K-8 is a busy place with a supportive staff and PTSA. The staff at Monroe and the Monroe PTSA work tirelessly to support many activities and programs throughout the school year. Monroe’s middle school sports program has a great reputation for fielding not only exciting teams, but teams that show great teamwork and sportsmanship. The PTSA has helped with beautification projects at the school as well as maintaining the Monroe garden. We asking that all Monroe families join and support the PTSA and to help with different events that take place during the year. The K-8 program at Monroe School supports the Long Beach Unified School District Mission, ”To support the personal and intellectual success of every student, every day.” The staff at Monroe is committed to providing the best educational experience possible for each student. Monroe truly is a great place to grow!
